Habits of Reading/Writing life. Blog post #4
How can healthy habits influence more reading and writing?
1. How does your book travel around with you? What exact part of your, backpack, pocket, purse, or whatever is involved?
Things such as carrying a book or a writing journal around is very important. This habit allows students to be more intentional. Carrying these things show that you practicing being mobile and ready to use them when you have a small break or are ready to be creative.
2. What are the regular sections in your day? What little reading appointments might be possible in there?
Do you map or plan out your day; if so, do you pencil time in to practice reading and writing? Allotting maybe 30 min to an hour a day to work your brain in a productive way can help you practice healthy habits as it ties into these educational things.
3. What are some possible places for reading? How might different places go with different types of reading? Like what could you read on the bus, in bed, at the kitchen table, in school? What are the challenges about each of these places and how do you deal with these challenges?
Believe it or not. Reading different materials can be for different. I think that you can be productive and learn in any setting, it just depends on what you may be reading. For instance, on the bus, as kids we read "notes" and "best friend journals". At the kitchen table, adults read the newspaper and kids read their homework. In school, more than likely, you are reading a textbook or a class assigned text. All of this goes to show you, it does not matter what you read, as long as your are stimulating your brain with different types of materials to read, You never notice that you are reading something educational in a fun, not so school like setting.
4. Who knows what you're reading about? Who do you sometimes think to tell your book about? Whose giving you recommendations?
Do you have a group of friends, classmates or associates that you can discuss cool stuff that you read about? If not, it is important to at least surround yourself with people who can help you with different views, books and views about reading. It could be a teacher, a friend, a coworker, a family member, etc. Book clubs are cool too. You are all reading the same book but some people comprehend and view things a lot differently. Meaning that when you all meet up to discuss, the conversation will be quite interesting.
5. What would you choose to read if you wanted to pick something that would go superfast, something that would give you no problem at all?
As stated earlier, many of us may not know it, but we read unintentionally everyday. You are enjoying and engaging in reading at times you least expect it. A few things that ae very informative, educational and super fast to read are blog posts, as well as short stories in magazines. Something so simple and small yet enlightening. There are loads of posts that you can relate to that will have you engaged and wanting to read more.
